Q 01:   I have made mistake in filling my Category OR Date of Birth OR Name OR Parent's/Gauardian's Name OR College Name OR Degree OR Year of Graduation OR ... (some other field). How do I fix it?
Answer:   JOAPS portal will allow editing of data after scrutiny. Wait for the announcement of defective applications. Some changes may require you to pay additional fees.
 
Q 02:   How do I change my preference for the exam cities?
Answer:  

In exceptional circumstances, a change of examination city/town may be permitted, if a request with a valid reason is submitted through the JOAPS website on or before the deadline specified by JAM 2021 organizing institute, along with an ONLINE payment of ₹ 500/- . Please note that payment of ₹ 500/- is non-refundable and does not necessarily guarantee change of the city. The decision of the Organ

Q 03:   I have received an email to rectify defect. How do I do it? What is the last date to do it?
Answer:   Scrutiny and verification of documents is a manual process and is time-consuming. You have to login to JOAPS portal to rectify any defects within the stipulated date. Otherwise, your application may be rejected.
Q 04:   Do I have to pay some fees to rectify defects?
Answer:  
There is no fee for fixing the defects identified during scrutiny. However, any other changes may require you to pay a fee.
Q 05:   Why is my application showing "Under Scrutiny" OR "Under Process"?
Answer:  
All applications are subject to scrutiny and verification.You will get an email once your application has been scrutinized.
 
Q 06:   I am a foreign national. Am I eligible to apply for JAM?
Answer:  
Yes, JAM is open to foreign nationals.
 
Q 07:   Is filling an Indian mobile number mandatory for JAM application?
Answer:  
Yes, candidates need to fill a 10-digit mobile number while filling the application. If you don’t have an Indian mobile number, fill an Indian number of a friend or relative. All information and updates will be sent by sms to this number and also to the e-mail address provided.
 
Q 08:   I have already made paid my application fee. However, the JOAPS portal shows that the payment is not done.
Answer:  
Please logout of the JOAPS and login after some time to check if the payment is reflected. If not, contact the JAM Helpdesk by e-mail.
 
Q 09:   I have successfully submitted my application for a JAM paper. I want to appear for one more JAM paper. How do I make this change?
Answer:  
Login to JOAPS portal and add click on “Add Paper” and choose from the list and pay the applicable fee. A candidate can appear for a maximum of two papers in JAM 2021.
 
Q 10:   I belong to OBC(NCL)/EWS category. Where should I upload my category certificate?
Answer:  
Only SC/ST/PwD candidates, who are eligible for concession in the application fee are required to upload the category certificate during the submission of application for JAM examination.
 
Q 11:   How to resolve "403 Forbidden Access Error," ?
Answer:  
In case you face the above problem then please ensure the following:
     1. Please limit the special characters that you use in your password input field to the following set of characters # @ & ^ ~ .* , -_ < > :
     2. Avoid using digits/numbers in the following range in the password "9, 10, 13, 32-126,128-255”
You can reset your password from the forgot password option in JOAPS login screen.
 
Q 12:   I am facing problem in connecting to https://joaps.iisc.ac.in ?
Answer:  
Following things should help
  • Please clear your browser cache
  • Use private/incognito browser mode.
  • Change DNS server settings to 8.8.8.8
 
 

Admission related FAQs

Q 13:   Due to the Covid 19, I got promoted without a marksheet. What should i do in this case?
Answer:   Eligibility requirement on aggregate marks is relaxed to "Pass in the qualifying examination" for JAM 2021 admissions. You can submit the promotion certificate in place of the marksheet. However, the promotion certificate or a document accompanying the promotion certificate duly signed by the Head of the Institute must mention the subjects taken in that semester/year, to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific program.  
Q 14:   I am unable to submit the documents required for my application to JAM 2021 admission. What should I do?
Answer:  

Submit the undertaking (available on JOAPS portal). Make sure that you tick all the documents that are missing in the application. Any offer made to a candidate will be provisional until all required documents are submitted, else the seat gets automatically cancelled after the deadline.

Q 15:   What is the deadline for the submission of documents, in case I am unable to submit them along with my application to admission?
Answer:   If you are unable to submit some of the required documents along with your application, submit the undertaking. The documents must be submitted to the admitting Institute before 30 Sept 2021. Any offer made to you will be provisional until all required documents are submitted, else the seat gets automatically cancelled after this deadline.
Q 16:   Are category certificates issued in the regional languages accepted?
Answer:  
Category certificates issued in regional languages are accepted, if they are signed by competent authorities as mentioned in the JAM 2021 admission brochure.
Q 17:   I am not able to submit my category certificate. Will I still be eligible to avail the reservation?
Answer:  
Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS categories must submit a valid category certificate issued by a competent authority as specified in the admission brochure, failing which they will not be considered for admission under the reserved category.
